New 4 star Hotel and Indoor Freestyle Zone Opening in Serre Chevalier

The independent hotel company °Fahrenheit Seven is currently building a 4 star hotel, Rider Seven lodge and a pioneering indoor freestyle sports complex in Serre Chevalier, opening December, 2027.

The grounds for the new °Fahrenheit Seven year-round hospitality project is ironically where, in 1965, it was the vision of developer André Jullien to create a high-end mountain sports complex with runway for private planes, hotel, indoor pool with spa, equestrian centre and tennis courts. The project, however, came to a halt in the 70s when flying restrictions were introduced with the development of the nearby Écrins National Park

More recent visitors to Serre Chevalier will know the site as the former ice racing circuit, on the outskirts of La Salle les Alpes. The original Le Sporting hotel is still there, now turned into apartments.

The 4 star °Fahrenheit Seven hotel, open winter and summer, will have 87 rooms and suites plus Mediterranean-style restaurant, bar, terrace, and outdoor pool. There will also be a ski/bike boutique, spa area, screening and meeting rooms.

The Rider Seven alongside, aimed at Generation Z (under 30) travelling solo or in groups of friends, will offer 33 rooms/apartments, open 10 months a year, with casual dining, terrace and outdoor bar.

The new °Fahrenheit Seven complex is being built alongside the recently opened MVV apartments, around 750m from the Pontilas gondola, with a shuttle bus service running every 10 minutes in high season. A return ski piste is being created, this summer, in place for winter 2026-27.

Co-founded by Véronique and Stéphane Vidoni with Glen and Claudia De Unger, the first °Fahrenheit Seven hotel  opened in 2014 in Val Thorens, Currently headquartered in Albertville, the group owns and operates six properties, including Val Thorens, Courchevel and Les Ménuires in the French Alps, representing a total of 240 rooms and generating nearly €25 million in revenue last season.

PROMOTING FREESTYLE AND FREERIDE

Designed in collaboration with Hurricane Parks, the adjoining 1,000 m² freestyle zone will offer an indoor training area with Olympic trampoline, ramps and landing foam pit aimed at freestyle and alpine skiing, BMX and skateboarding.

This coincides with freestyle being very much on the Serre Chevalier agenda as the resort is hosting Winter Olympics freestyle events including big air and aerials, in 2030.

Since 2018, °Fahrenheit Seven Val Thorens has been the main patron of Freeski des Belleville, the freeski, freeride and mountaineering section of the Belleville Valley, enabling young local riders to practise freeride and freeski in a structured and educational environment. Today, Freeski des Belleville includes six freeriders competing on the Freeride World Tour.
